This is where a digital logbook stops being a text file. Dives done with a dive center that uses Lumeris aren't written by you: they arrive already filled in by whoever was in the water with you, with the right site, date and depths, and they carry the center's name. Nothing to reconstruct from memory, and you're not the only one who can confirm it. The others you write yourself, as it has always been. In your diary, the difference shows.

How many dives have you done this year? What was the deepest? How much time have you spent underwater, in total? How many times have you seen an octopus? A digital dive log answers. Not out of vanity: because at some point those numbers tell you who you've become as a diver, dive after dive. On paper those answers exist too. What numbers can't say
A dive isn't made of depth and minutes. Your wrist computer records those too. Every dive can keep the photo you took, the buddies you went down with, the species you met and the notes only you would write: the sea that was flat, the instructor laughing, the grouper that wouldn't leave. In ten years you won't need to know you were at twenty-four metres. You'll need to remember why that day stayed with you.
Every dive has a place
«That shoal off the lighthouse» isn't a place: it's a memory you're already losing. Link the dive to a real dive site and the log inherits the coordinates. From there comes the map of your diary: no longer a list, but a geography of where you've been.

- Yes. Add past dives by hand, or import them from a screenshot of the SSI app: the data is read and you review it before saving.
- Is a digital logbook worth as much as a stamped paper one?
- The value of a paper logbook is the signature of whoever was there. On Lumeris, dives done with a dive center that uses the platform arrive already confirmed by the center, carrying its name. For the formal requirements of a course, each agency has its own rules: ask your instructor. Lumeris keeps your story, it doesn't replace your certification.
- Is the Lumeris logbook free?
- Yes, for divers it's free, now and in future. We're in beta and the project will be supported by dive centers, not by divers.
- Does it work for technical diving?
- Yes. You can log mix and oxygen and helium percentages, MOD, configuration, deco dives with stops, CNS, start and end pressures and the computer you used. Recreational divers fill in three fields and are done.
- Can I log dives done alone or from shore?
- Yes. The link with a dive center is a bonus, not a requirement: every dive can be yours and yours only.
- Is my data mine?
- Yes. The exact location of sites and the names of your buddies stay private by default, and your story follows you even if you change certification, center or computer.
